Creation of Humans

The gods and angels gathered to discuss the origin of the angels. The gods explained everything, pointing out that they had created the angels to be play things as Retam had created the gods to be his. The angels learned how they were created and why, and the divine discussion led to a single important point. There was no current race which now resembled the true form of life in the world. The dwarves were created to take care of the earth and were too short and stocky. The elves were the by-product of magic and were too frail and magical. The halflings were too small and occupied by trivial aspects. There was no more angelic race to inhabit the cities of the angels now that the angels had ascended and left the mortal world.

The discussion was so long that the cities themselves fell to ruin and decay. Yet, their discussion was not all in vain for they all agreed that a new race should be created, a race that should take the place of the angels in the world. There was a large argument concerning who should create the race. There was opposition and there was the argument that the gods and angels should create them. But most of the angels wanted to create the race themselves and thus the gods retreated from the arguments and let the angels make their own race. Unfortunately, only the angels who had accepted their new powers through ascendancy were able to create a new race. The other angels were too weak and their kiss not powerful enough to infuse life into anything new. Thus the angels created their own race. They tried to duplicate what the gods had formerly created.

The creatures they created resembled the angels but were not warm to the touch or as beautiful to gaze upon. They did not smell heavenly and their voices were neither soothing nor divine. They did not have wings to fly nor did their kiss give life, even though their kiss would still be soothing, beautiful, and powerful. Their kiss was thus enlarged to encompass larger feelings that the angels also gave the other races that lived in the world. Thus love and commitment was distributed as the new race was created. Once these new humanoids roamed the world, the angels named them "Human".
